Road closures: six for Gateshead drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Gateshead will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Gateshead will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And three of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A1, from 8pm September 25 2023 to 6am January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 Dunston, carriageway closures with lane closures for electrical works.

A1, from 8pm February 7 2022 to 6am August 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 65 Birtley to junction 69 Coalhouse, carriageway closures and lane closures for major project widening works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A1, from 8pm January 29 to 6am April 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 southbound, junction 68 Lobley Hill to junction 67 Kingsway, Dedicated lane closure.

A1, from 8pm February 1 to 6am February 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 southbound, junction 69 to 68 Lane closure for Vehicle safety fence Repair.

A1, from 8pm to 11.30pm on February 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 southbound, junction 74 exit slip road closure, Electrical works.

A19, from 8pm February 7 to 6am February 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 eastbound, Seaton Burn to Dudley lane, lane closures and diversion route for works off network.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
