Road closures: three for Gateshead drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Gateshead will have three National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A184, from 9.30am April 11 to 3.30pm June 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A194M northbound, Follingsby Interchange to White Mare Pool Roundabout - South Tyneside works.

• A1, from 8pm February 7 2022 to 6am August 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 65 Birtley to junction 69 Coalhouse, carriageway closures and lane closures for major project widening works.

And one more closure will begin over the next two weeks:

• A1, from 8pm June 28 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, junction 70 to junction 71 , Lane closure for inspection/survey on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
