Road closures: three for Gateshead drivers this week

Drivers in and around Gateshead will have three National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Gateshead will have three National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And two of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing waits of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A1, from 7pm February 1 to 6am February 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 72 Swalwell, exit and entry slip road closures for works off network.

A1, from 8pm February 7 2022 to 6am August 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 65 Birtley to junction 69 Coalhouse, carriageway closures and lane closures for major project widening works.

And one more closure will begin over the next seven days:

A194(M), from 8pm February 8 to 6am February 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A194M southbound, junction 2 exit slip Lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
