New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Bullocksteads Hub, at Bullock Steads Community Hub Ponteland Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on October 6.

And Chai Shai, at 261 Ponteland Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was given a score of one on October 6.

It means that of Newcastle's 665 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 474 (71%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
