New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Toon Takeaway, at 48 Cloth Market, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 3.

And Tarboosh, at 37 Groat Market, Newcastle Upon Tyne was given a score of zero on March 3.

It means that of Newcastle's 307 takeaways with ratings, 196 (64%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
