New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Khyber cafe, at 169 West Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on October 20.

And Oxley Fish And Kebab, at 30 Cedar Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was also given a score of four on October 20.

It means that of Newcastle's 313 takeaways with ratings, 188 (60%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
