New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Geisha Bar & Restaurant, at 133 Sandyford Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a three-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 20.

And Home Flavour Asian Restaurant, at 41 Gallowgate, Newcastle Upon Tyne was also given a score of three on March 20.

It means that of Newcastle's 659 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 485 (74%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
