New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

Northern Slice, at The Bike Garden Nuns Moor Park West Brighton Grove, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on October 21.

And the bake newcastle Ltd, at Unit 11 Upper Level Greys Quarter, Eldon Square, Newcastle Upon Tyne was also given a score of five on September 10.

It means that of Newcastle's 673 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 496 (74%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
