Newcastle road closures: four for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight


Newcastle's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.
And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a wait of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:
• A1, from 8pm April 10 2021 to 6am December 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 74 Scotswood to junction 79 North Brunton, carriageway closures for major Project carriageway widening.
And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:
• A1, from 8pm November 2 to 6am November 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, junction 76, closure of northbound, entry slip for horticultural works.

• A1, from 8pm November 8 to 6am November 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 79 to junction 80, Lane closure for drainage works.
• A1, from 8pm November 10 to 6am November 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, junction 73 to junction 74 lane closure for electrical works.
National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
