Newcastle road closures: seven for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Newcastle's motorists will have seven road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But drivers will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that seven closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• A1, from 8pm October 16 to 6am October 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, lane two closures, junction 79 to junction 80 for electrical works.

• A1, from 8pm October 16 to 6am October 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 77 and junction 78, Lane closure for electrical works.

• A1, from 8pm October 17 to 6am October 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, amd southbound, junction 77 interchange, Lane closure for electrical works.

• A1, from 8pm October 18 to 6am October 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 78 and 79 interchanges, Lane closures for electrical works.

• A1, from 8pm October 18 to 6am October 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, lane two closure on exit slip, junction 80.

• A1, from 8pm October 18 to 6am October 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, junction74 entry slip road, Lane closure for electrical works.

• A1, from 8pm October 19 to 6am October 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 79, Lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
