Newcastle's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

Newcastle's motorists will have six road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a wait of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A1, from 8pm April 10 2021 to 6am July 29 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 74 Scotswood to junction 79 North Brunton, carriageway closures for major Project carriageway widening.

A69, from 7pm July 22 to 7am August 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Throckley Bypass between, junction A6085 and B6528, overnight carriageway closure in both directions to allow routine maintenance.

A1, from 8pm July 18 2022 to 6am August 19 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 Dunston to junction 74 Scotswood - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of Highways England.

And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A69, from 8pm July 24 to 6am July 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): Walbottle to Throckley westbound, convoy working with westbound, Off Slip closure to allow carriageway resurfacing.

A1, from 8pm July 24 to 6am August 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 to junction 80, Lane closures for inspections works.

A1, from 8pm August 4 to 6am August 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 southbound, Jnct 79 exit slip lane closure for Electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
