Road closures: five for Newcastle drivers this week

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that four closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A69, from 9am March 2 to 3pm March 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Nafferton, lane closures for bridge maintenance.

A1, from 8pm February 27 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19/A1 northbound and southbound, Seaton Burn, exit slip road carriageway and lane closure for resurfacing works.

A1, from 8pm April 10 2021 to 6am April 1 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 74 Scotswood to junction 79 North Brunton, carriageway closures for major Project carriageway widening.

A1, from 8pm July 18 2022 to 6am April 1 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 Dunston to junction 74 Scotswood - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of Highways England.

And one more closure will begin over the next seven days:

A1, from 8pm March 15 to 6am March 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 southbound, junction 75, entry slip road closure and lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
