Road closures: four for Newcastle drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of less than 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

A1, from 8pm July 18 2022 to 3.30pm June 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 Dunston to junction 74 Scotswood - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of Highways England.

And a further three closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A1, from 8pm June 27 to 6am July 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, - Kingston Park to Seaton Burn, Signage for plate festival.

A696, from 9am to 3.30pm on July 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A696 eastbound and westbound, Kenton Bar to Newcastle Airport, Lane closures for horticultural works.

A696, from 9am July 6 to 3.30pm July 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A696 northbound and southbound, Kenton Bar to Newcastle Airport, Lane closures for horticultural works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
