Drivers in and around Newcastle will have four National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A69, from 9am March 2 to 3pm March 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Nafferton, lane closures for bridge maintenance.

A1, from 8pm July 18 2022 to 6am April 1 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 Dunston to junction 74 Scotswood - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of Highways England.

And a further two closures will begin over the next seven days:

A696, from 8pm March 9 to 6am March 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A696 eastbound and westbound. Kenton Bar to Prestwick, Lane closures for drainage works.

A1, from 8pm March 15 to 6am March 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 southbound, junction 75, entry slip road closure and lane closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
