Road closures: seven for Newcastle drivers this week

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have seven National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A1, from 8pm April 10 2021 to 6am January 28 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 74 Scotswood to junction 79 North Brunton, carriageway closures for major Project carriageway widening.

A1, from 8pm July 18 2022 to 6am March 10 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 Dunston to junction 74 Scotswood - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of Highways England.

And a further five closures will begin over the next seven days:

A19, from 8pm January 16 to 6am January 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Fisher lane to Moor farm, Lane closure for drainage works.

A19, from 8pm January 17 to 6am January 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Fisher Lane to Moor Farm, Lane closures for drainage works.

A696, from 8pm January 18 to 6am January 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A696 eastbound, New Biggin lane to Kenton Bar, Lane closure for sign repairs.

A19, from 8pm January 20 to 6am January 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound, Killingworth to Moor Farm, Lane closure for drainage works.

A69, from 8pm January 26 to 4am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 North Walbottle - eastbound, road closure just east of North Walbottle overbridge to carry out loop replacement works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
