Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to six North Tyneside establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to six of North Tyneside’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to three restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: CBX Cafe at Cafe Within, Cobalt Park Business Exchange, Cobalt Park Way, Wallsend; rated on August 1

• Rated 5: Number 129 Coffee Shop at 129 Park View, Whitley Bay, Tyne And Wear; rated on July 31

• Rated 5: BB's Coffee Shop And Store Confectionary at Cafe Within, Boundary Mills Stores, Park Lane, Shiremoor; rated on July 20

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And two ratings have been handed to pubs, bars or nightclubs:

• Rated 5: Queens Head at 140 High Street West, Wallsend, Tyne And Wear; rated on July 18

• Rated 5: The Brewery And Whitley Bay Brewing Company at 1 - 2 South Parade, Whitley Bay, Tyne And Wear; rated on July 17
