A North Tyneside drinking establishment has been handed a new three-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Backworth Miners Welfare, a pub, bar or nightclub at The Hall, Station Road, Backworth, Newcastle Upon Tyne was given the score after assessment on January 15, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of North Tyneside's 145 pubs, bars and nightclubs with ratings, 126 (87%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
