A North Tyneside restaurant has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

The Cafe Tesco Extra, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at Tesco West Chirton Industrial Estate South, Norham Road, North Shields, Tyne And Wear was given the maximum score after assessment on January 16, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of North Tyneside's 278 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 222 (80%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
