North Tyneside road closures: four for motorists to avoid this week

North Tyneside's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

North Tyneside's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a wait of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

A19, from 8pm February 26 to 6am March 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Killingworth to Dudley lane, carriageway closures with lane closure and 24hr layby closures for maintenance works.

A19, from 8pm March 4 to 8am March 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 southbound, Killingworth to Holystone, Lane closure for inspection/survey on behalf of National Highways.

And a further two closures will begin over the next seven days:

A19, from 8pm March 13 to 6am March 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 southbound, Silverlink to Howdon, Lane closure for drainage works.

A19, from 8pm March 20 to 6am March 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound, Howdon to Silverlink, Lane closure for drainage works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
