Road closures: five for North Tyneside drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around North Tyneside will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around North Tyneside will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

A19, from 8pm July 2 to 6am December 16, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Moorfarm to Killingworth, carriageway closures and 24hr lane closures for resurfacing works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

A19, from 8pm December 11 to 6am December 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Killingworth to Holystone, Lane closure for horticultural works.

A19, from 8pm December 13 to 6am December 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Moor farm to Killingworth, Lane closure for safety fence works.

A1, from 8pm December 15 to 6am December 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound, junction 79 to 80 lane closure for Horticultural works.

A19, from 8pm December 16 to 6am December 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound, Holystone to Killingworth lane closure for sign installation works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
