New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to three of South Tyneside’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to three of South Tyneside’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The following ratings have been given to three takeaways:

• Rated 5: Moonlight Indian Halal Takeaway at 1c Woodbine Street, South Shields, Tyne & Wear; rated on September 13

• Rated 5: The Golden Chippy at 511 Stanhope Road, South Shields, Tyne & Wear; rated on September 7

• Rated 3: Golden Bull Chippy at 17 Grange Road, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear; rated on August 9

It means that of South Tyneside's 138 similar establishments with ratings, 66 (48%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
