New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Redragon Restaurant, at 4 Burrow Street, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on October 5.

And Swans, at 113 Leicester Way, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear was given a score of one on October 5.

It means that of South Tyneside's 173 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 112 (65%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
