Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to two South Tyneside restaurants

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

McDonalds, at Abingdon Way, Boldon Colliery, Tyne & Wear was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on May 18.

And Hillhead Farm Shop & Tea Room, at Lizard Lane, Whitburn, Tyne & Wear was also given a score of five on April 27.

It means that of South Tyneside's 173 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 113 (65%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
