New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

Greggs, at Unit 1-2, South Shields Interchange, Keppel Street, South Shields was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on July 13.

And Singh's Fish Bar, at 136 Quarry Lane, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was also given a score of five on July 12.

It means that of South Tyneside's 142 takeaways with ratings, 68 (48%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
