New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them both.

Man vs Food_Peaches Cream, at Man Vs Food, Hudson Street, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 16.

And The potting shed, Green Fingers Garden Centre Ltd, at Unit 1 Western Approach Trade Park, Western Approach, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was also given a score of five on March 16.

It means that of South Tyneside's 178 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 119 (67%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
