A South Tyneside restaurant has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

A South Tyneside restaurant has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

The Smithy, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at East Smithy Street, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was given the score after assessment on July 7, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 174 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 113 (65%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
