South Tyneside road closures: four for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

South Tyneside's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A19, from 8pm April 11 to 6am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19/A194 Lindisfarne Interchange north and southbound, exit slip roads, slip road lane closures for bridge maintenance.

• A19, from 8pm June 27 to 3.30pm July 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 southbound, A194 Lindisfarne to Boldon, slip road closure and lane closure for survey works by Northern Gas Networks.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A19, from 8pm July 3 to 6am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 Boldon/Hedworth Lane northbound, exit slip road, slip road closure for resurfacing by South Tyneside Council.

• A19, from 8pm July 10 to 6am July 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 north and southbound, A194 Lindisfarne Interchange, carriageway closure and lane closures for bridge works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
