South Tyneside road closures: two for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

South Tyneside's motorists will have two road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing a holdup of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

• A19, from 8pm October 9 to 6am October 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound, Lane one between A194 and A185 South Tyneside for CCTV maintenance and Sewer Cleaning by Northumbrian Water.

• A19, from 11pm October 16 to 6am October 17, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 southbound, A185 Tyne Tunnel to A194 Lindisfarne Interchange, carriageway closure for maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
