South Tyneside road closures: two for motorists to avoid this week

South Tyneside's motorists will have two road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

South Tyneside's motorists will have two road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And they are both are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

A184, from 8pm September 7 2020 to 6am April 9 2022, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Downhill Lane, carriageway closures for interchange upgrades.

And one more closure will begin over the next seven days:

A19, from 8pm April 11 to 6am April 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A19 Boldon Interchange southbound, entry slip road, slip road closure for electrical works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
