A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Gills Golden Fish And Chips, a takeaway at 359 Prince Edward Road, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was given the maximum score after assessment on June 14, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 141 takeaways with ratings, 67 (48%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
