A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new two-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Zak's & Village Tandoori, a takeaway at 11b Bladen Street Industrial Estate, Bladen Street, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear was given the score after assessment on April 28, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 149 takeaways with ratings, 66 (44%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
