A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new three-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Abbey's South Shields, a takeaway at 501 Stanhope Road, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was given the score after assessment on February 23, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 141 takeaways with ratings, 65 (46%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
