A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new one-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Chennai Central, a takeaway at 94 Boldon Lane, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was given the score after assessment on August 3, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 139 takeaways with ratings, 66 (47%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
