A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Taj Balti Hut, a takeaway at 8 Hutton Street, Boldon Colliery, Tyne & Wear was given the score after assessment on January 16, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 146 takeaways with ratings, 68 (47%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
