A South Tyneside takeaway has been handed a new three-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Royal Chef, a takeaway at 83 Hudson Street, South Shields, Tyne & Wear was given the score after assessment on January 10, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of South Tyneside's 137 takeaways with ratings, 70 (51%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
