I am the group SEO editor for National World PLC titles and head up the SEO and trends team along with the showcase team. We cover national and regional content for sites across the UK including Edinburgh Evening News, Yorkshire Evening Post and Sheffield Star. Born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent, I studied journalism at Staffordshire University before completing an MA in Multiplatform and Mobile Journalism at Birmingham City University. I dabbled in marketing in my early career, working at Craghoppers as the social media coordinator as well as a web author at Staffs Uni. Following my Masters I worked at Birmingham Live as a trends writer, writing local and national SEO content from celebrities and events, to retail and food & drink. I have also worked at Newsquest as a regional audience and content editor, where I helped sites across the Midlands and Wales including Worcester News and South Wales Argus to increase their digital presence on social and search. While there I also developed an affiliate project and helped to set up the central SEO team which wrote national and regional content for Newsquest titles across the UK including the Herald, Bournemouth Echo and Northern Echo. My day-to-day job at National World consists of running the SEO vertical and also building the editorial search strategy for the company but I do like to dabble in some what’s on content as well as the odd review or two. I love writing about (and watching) TV as well as gigs and theatre. In my spare time I enjoy musical theatre, travelling, watching a series on Netflix and going out for food. I am a big Disney buff - I love the films, the music and have visited Walt Disney World in Orlando twice. I’m an adrenaline junkie and love theme parks - my fiance and I recently went to Universal Orlando and went on the newest Jurassic Park ride Velocicoaster and it’s up there with the best (and scariest) ride I’ve been on in years. I also live just down the road from Alton Towers and enjoy reviewing their latest experiences and rides. I’ve recently taken up aerial yoga which often ends up in an injury or two, but mostly it allows me to switch off and relax for an hour after work. My favourite downtime though is chilling at home with my two young cats.
