Deltacron variant: what are the symptoms of the newest Coronavirus strain and has it been found in the UK?
The newest Covid variant to look out for has been named ‘Deltracron’ or ‘Deltamicron’ and has been confirmed to be a combination of the Omicron and Delta variants which have already hit the UK throughout the pandemic.
Although Covid cases across Newcastle are rising, there is currently no confirmed link between these numbers and the spread of the variant.
Where was Deltracron first discovered?

What are the symptoms of the Deltacron variant?
Due to the combination of two pre existing variants, the symptoms remain similar to those experienced by anyone who has had the Delta or Omicron variants.
The NHS list the main symptoms of Coronavirus as:
A high temperature
A new, continuous cough
A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
Further symptoms also include a runny nose, persistent sneezing and coughing, headaches, and a sore throat. Nausea and fatigue are further symptoms to look out for.
How many Deltacron cases are in the UK?
The actual number of confirmed cases of Deltacron in the UK is currently undisclosed, but it has been described as ‘very small’.
In addition to this, the high rate of vaccination across the UK in addition to built up immunity against former variants mean Deltacron is unlikely to pose a major threat to the public.
