Happy faces and all colours of the rainbow filled the streets of Newcastle for the Pride march

The streets of Newcastle turned the colour of the rainbow on Saturday as the Newcastle Pride march wormed its way through the city.

Celebrations for the Northern Pride event, which this year hosts UK Pride, kicked off on Friday night with a fundraising event.

Todrick Hall, Bimini, Jodie Harsh, Katy B and Dean McCullough performed as high spirits kept the party going despite occasional showers making it an authentic Geordie experience.

Events on Saturday and Sunday are free to the public and got under way with the Pride march.

30,000 people are expected to celebrate this year's event on the Town Moor and thousands of those marched through the city on Saturday lunchtime.

Representatives from the local community, big-name companies and sports clubs could be spotted walking through Newcastle.

The route started at the Civic Centre before snaking down Northumberland Street to Monument and back up towards Exhibition Park.

NewcastleWorld were in amongst the action, snapping some of the best outfits, signs, flags and more.
