Appeal after £100,000 of damage done to North Shields Lidl

An unknown substance caused thousands of pounds of damage

Northumbria Police have launched an appeal for information regarding extensive damage caused to a North Shields Lidl store.

An investigation has been launched after the Lidl on Rake Lane was targeted on Thursday, September 30 last year.

The incident saw an estimated £100,000 worth of damage caused to the store at around 10 pm on the day.

It is believed those responsible approached the newly opened store and squirted an unknown substance over several outer metal panels causing significant damage.

The Lidl store only opened to the public last year.

Officers have already conducted a number of enquiries and are now asking the public for information to assist with their investigation.

If anyone has any information about the incident, they are asked to contact Northumbria Police.

The police are particularly interested in any dashcam footage of vehicles or people acting suspiciously.
