Award-winning independent film showcasing Newcastle hits Amazon Prime

Finding Your True Self has taken the North East to the world with stunning reviews and awards

An award-winning indie feature film showcasing Newcastle and its rising stars of the screen has hit Amazon Prime.

Finding Your True Self is the brainchild of local production company Terabithia Pictures and Alnwick based filmmaker Gabriel Brown.

The film is touted as a “slice of life piece” with elements of romance and drama.

It tells the story of an isolated young man trying to break free from his controlling brother, who then encounters some new friends, allowing him an escape and a new lease on life.

The short teaser trailer for Finding Your True Self includes famous Geordie shots of the Quayside, Leazes Park and St Peter’s Marina.

Filmmaker Gabriel Brown said: It feels surreal to finally have the film out there and released, aside from it even being on Amazon Prime!

“It’s been a real labour of love creating this and I thank everyone for their dedication, hard work and passion- we couldn’t have done it without you.”

The independent film has won awards across Europe

Addison Keen, a Haltwhistle based actor and producer, co-produced the feature alongside Gabriel, and stars in the film as The Gallery Host.

Addison said: “It’s amazing to see the film finally get to release!

“It’s a great testimony to all of the talented cast and crew that helped put it together to be able to have their work shown on a platform such as Amazon.

“It’s been great following our labour of love through to fruition and I look forward to the future.”

The film won both Best Drama and Best First-Time Director at the November 2021 edition of the Falcon International Film Festival in London.

An accolade for Best Feature Script at the Calcutta International Film Festival and the Prague International Monthly Film Festival followed.
