Following the announcement of the death of the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, who sadly passed away on Wednesday, May 24 aged 83, fans of the Proud Mary singer discovered that she had a Geordie connection.

American singer Tina, who became one of the most iconic performers of all time, known for her hits Simply The Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It along many more, was so highly regarded for her success in music that she even had a movie, and musical theatre production show dedicated to her life and career - prior to her passing.

Now, fans of the star are looking into her social media accounts, to find out who she may have been friends with before her death.

Fans found that despite Tina having 1.2 million followers on Instagram, her account only follows six individual accounts.

She follows record labels Parlophone and Rhino Records, as well as Broadway actress Adrienne Warren who has played Tina in Tina The Musical, and superstar Beyonce, who has performed alongside the singer on multiple occasions.

But the other account she followed took fans by surprise as it was the profile of Newcastle pop icon and former Girls Aloud member, Cheryl Tweedy.

It is unknown why Tina has chosen to follow Cheryl on social media, despite the pair never meeting in person, but many have speculated that it could be down to Cheryl citing Tina Turner as an influence in the past.

Many have also shared that both Tina and Cheryl chose to keep the surnames of their former husbands in their professional career. Cheryl has since dropped the surname Cole from her professional work.
