Festive excitement gripped Northumberland Street on Monday as the Fenwick Christmas Window 2021 was opened to the public.

This year's display was launched virtually on Facebook last Sunday evening, with just a small crowd made up of charities and schoolchildren.

On Monday evening, queues to see the store's window were constant as families headed down with little ones to admire this year's Shaun the Sheep theme.

NewcatleWorld.com went down to admire the 2021 display.

Windows include sheep stuck in Christmas trees, eyeing up presents, carol singing and sitting down for Christmas dinner.

Fenwick said: "This year's spectacularly festive reveal saw Fenwick Newcastle store come to life with the magical and humourous story of @shaunthesheep and his mischievous Flock running across the entire frontage of the Northumberland Street windows."

Here's what members of the public had to say about the Fenwick Christmas Window 2021.

Jackie from Morpeth and Joan from Cullercoats:

"I like it. It's very good, very nice.

"It's just as good as past ones and quite funny. They always look really good. They put a lot of effort into it.

"We're going to see Steps tonight at the arena and knew it was on so came by."

Pam from Darlington:

"I thought it was fantastic. I thought it might be more traditional this year but it's great.

"It's up there with previous years. I love it."

Alyssa from Washington:

"It's lovely, I love coming every year, it's very cute.

"It's just as good as always!

"I'm starting to feel dead Christmassy, I knew it was the first day today so came down."

"I found it beautiful, especially the first and the last windows.

"I know Shaun the Sheep but it's a very British thing so I don't know it too well.

"I'd seen the Christmas windows in London and that was obviously another level.

"It's the first time I've visited the Newcastle. I know it was Willy the Wonka recently but you can't compare as it's two different worlds.

"I like Shaun the Sheep, there are some that are less festive, but really it's a great window."
