Hopeful Great North Run 2022 participants have just 24 hours left to enter the ballot for this year's event.
The iconic Tyneside race opened its traditional entry method earlier this year as Great North Run fervour spread across the region.

Free entries were given out in a treasure hunt game in South Shields on Monday, January 10 during opening day to celebrate the event's return to the coastal town.
This year the Great North Run will take place on Sunday, September 11.

Runners have had six weeks to enter the ballot and now, with 24 hours left, NewcastleWorld is on hand with all you need to know.
When does the Great North Run ballot close?
January 10 already seems like an eternity ago, but it's been six weeks since the ballot opened and it is now about to close.

Entries via the ballot will be shut at 9 am tomorrow, Monday, February 21.
That means hopefuls have less than 24 hours to pluck up the courage to get those entries in.
How do I enter the ballot?

Entry to the ballot is done through a simple online form on the Great Run website.
You fill in your details and commit to paying the £59 if you are successful.

Can I still run if I don't enter the ballot?

In short, yes you can.
Entering via the ballot means you just have to pay the £59 race fee to compete.
However, you can also secure a place on the start line via a charity.
Charities do ask a minimum contribution in return for your place, which is often much greater than the £59 ballot fee, although does go to a good cause.
