With so little time left before event day on Sunday, September 11, it's understandable that nerves will be jangling at a new high.

For a small number of entrants, recent injuries or delays in training may make those nerves extra intense.

The short answer to this is yes. However, organisers will not let you do so for free.
If you can no longer race this September, you are offered the chance to take a guaranteed place in next year's event.
No refund will be given for your current entry and you must pay the standard entry fee for next year's event - what this does allow you to do is bypass the ballot for the Great North Run 2023.
