One of the biggest hotels on the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside is set for a major rebranding as the Jurys Inn enters a new era.

The popular hotel close to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge will start operating under the name of Leonardo in the Leonardo Royal Hotels group in the coming months. The switch-up is part of a nationwide move from the group.

All 35 Jurys Inn hotels in the UK will become Leonardo Hotels by the end of 2022 to join the 16 hotels already operating under the name. The rebrand promises to combine the key elements of the Jurys Inn experience and the Leonardo brand design.

The Jurys Inn on South Shore Road offers over 200 rooms with en-suite bathrooms, as well as a riverside bar and restaurant. It also houses an all-day Costa Coffee.

Some pedestrians in Gateshead may have spotted a Leonardo brand bus outside the hotel on Tuesday, which is visiting sites across the country to kick off the rebranding process.
