A Little Mix superfan who is making a long journey to Newcastle for the girl group's final homecoming shows this weekend has spoken of the 'emotional' nights ahead.

Perry O'Bree is a YouTuber and radio presenter who has been following Little Mix since they were formed on The X Factor in 2011.

Fast-forward 11 years and the group are still together as a three-piece, including South Shields stars Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall.

Perrie and Jade, alongside Leigh-Anne, will play three shows at Newcastle's Utilita Arena this weekend in what will be their final homecoming shows in the North East.

Following the Confetti Tour, the group will disband to focus on their own careers.

Perry said: "I’ve always been a big fan of girl bands but Little Mix are really top tier in terms of talent, versatility and skill.

"What makes them so special is that they are all unique in their own way, but when they come together they really are powerful.

"Powerful in not only harmonies and dance routines, but also they empower their fans to always love yourself and be true to who you are.

"They are special to me because they’ve been the soundtrack to the last ten years of my life."

Perry, who has interviewed and built a relationship with the singers, is from Kent but is making the long journey to Newcastle for an unmissable weekend of shows.

He said: "I am very aware of Jade and Perrie's pride to be from the North East and it’s the whole reason why I am travelling up north to see the girls in Newcastle.

"The last time I saw them in Newcastle was on their Glory Days tour in 2017 and the atmosphere was electric. Geordies really know how to party!

"It’s also super cool to explore where Jade and Perrie grew up before the fame and to see how proud they are of how far they’ve come."

Perry added that the shows at the Utilita Arena will be "very emotional" with some of the group's family and friends guaranteed to be in the crowd - along with those super fans making the journey.

Little Mix have already taken the Confetti Tour to Belfast and Dublin and, after this weekend's shows in Newcastle, will continue to tour across the UK.

Perry said: "Their tours are always incredible and this one is no different.

"Everything from their outfits designed by their amazing stylists Zack and Jamie through to their dance routines and harmonies it looks and sounds amazing!

"There is a song from every era and new ones from Confetti which haven’t been performed to audiences before so that is really cool and such an awesome way to say farewell!

"I’m incredibly excited to see the show!"

Ahead of the bittersweet weekend, Perry had one last message for the girls who have had such an impact on his life.

He said: "One final thing, girls if you’re reading, thanks for everything you’ve really made a positive impact on so many people's lives including mine and I look forward to seeing you again very soon!

"It’s not a goodbye it’s just a see you soon!"
