Police are looking to speak to an individual after an alleged assault at a private Lunar New Year party held at Northumbria University.

A search for a man is underway after an alleged assault that took place during a private Lunar New Year event hosted at Northumbria University Students Union.

It was reported that on Saturday, January 21, a man had been in attendance at the event when he was chased by two other males in attendance.

One of the offenders then reportedly struck the victim with a bottle, causing a laceration to his head. The men left the scene before emergency services attended.

An investigation into the assault is now underway, and officers have carried out a range of enquiries, including a review of CCTV.

They have now issued the image of a man who was in the area at the time and might have information which can help. Anyone who recognises the man or thinks they might have seen what happened, is asked to get in touch.
