Matty Healy: An insight into The 1975’s frontman’s love life

Matty has reportedly dated models, singers and actresses.

It was reported by The Sun that The 1975 frontman Matty Healy was dating country-pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Fans of the pair expressed delight at the possible pairing, while the people of Newcastle were excited at the prospect of Denise Welch and Tim Healy being Swift’s future in-laws.

Although Matty was born in London in 1989, his parents Denise and Tim are well-known and well-loved in the toon.

The pair began their careers acting in various television and film roles, some of which focussed on life in Newcastle upon Tyne. They met while working for Newcastle’s Live Theatre and married in 1988. Matty was born the following year, and his younger brother Louis was born in 2001.

Denise and Tim have since divorced. Denise is now married to Lincoln Townley and Tim is married to Joan Anderton.

FKA Twigs

It was rumoured last year that Matty Healy was in a relationship with British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett. According to The Mirror, the couple got together in 2020, before ending their relationship last summer.


Another relationship rumour was between Matty and American singer, Halsey. The pair were said to be romantically linked in 2015, however the relationship was never confirmed.

Ali Lohan

According to The Tab, Matty was once romantically involved with Lindsay Lohan’s younger sister, Ali Lohan. It was rumoured that the pair had a brief “fling” in 2014.


Matty has also been romantically linked to various models.
