Newcastle city centre café launches the 'ultimate' afternoon tea

Claremont Teahouse, on Eldon Place in Newcastle city centre, has announced that it is launching an afternoon tea package.

The package will combine the café's home baked goods with its huge selection of international teas, along with some other treats.

The afternoon tea will include a range of sandwiches, fresh scones and cakes as well as a choice from the tea menu.

Claremont Teahouse has confirmed that the teas on offer include a traditional English Breakfast tea, ginger peach, spiced chai, Japanese sencha, Bohemian raspberry, bergamot and rose, venially and almond, scarlet apple, chamomile, rhubarb spritzer, pineapple and coconut or laid back lavender.

The afternoon tea package costs £22.50 per person, with the option to add a glass of prosecco to the deal for an extra £5 each.

A lighter version of the afternoon tea, which includes tea and scones with jam and cream, will be available for £14 per person.

If booked in advance, the city centre venue will be able to provide a number of vegetarian and vegan options. Earlier this year, Claremont Teahouse brought a taste of New York City to the North East as it launched an offering of bagels that are filled with a combination of British and US ingredients.

Management at the teahouse have confirmed that the afternoon tea menu runs daily from 2pm until 6pm and can only be booked in advance by calling 0191 691 6070.
