NewcastleWorld’s 12 days of Christmas: Day TEN sees Geordie pop stars make history
As we near the end of NewcastleWorld’s 12 Days of Christmas, there are just a few more famous faces to uncover.
Today, we look at two Geordie lasses who have gone on to conquer the world of pop music.

Hide AdThat is, of course, Perrie Edward and Jade Thirwall of Little Mix.
Perrie was born and raised in South Shields, attending St. Peter and Paul RC Primary School and Mortimer Community College, before moving to Newcastle College.
Jade was also born and raised in South Shields, where she attended a performing arts school before hitting the limelight.
The two would go on to meet on The X Factor in 2011, when they both auditioned as solo artists, but were put together to form the group Little Mix.

Hide AdBuckinghamshire’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock and London’s Jesy Nelson were the other two to make up the group, Jesy leaving in 2020, who went on to win the reality show in 2011.
In 2021, the girl group were to make history again.
At the Brit Awards this year the Little Mix girls beat the likes of Coldplay and Wolf Alice to take home the Best Group Award, becoming the first-ever all-female artist to do so.
Perrie and Jade have certainly kept busy in 2021 after that historic win.
The girls flew high in the charts with David Guetta collaboration ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ and released their first greatest hits album, Between Us.

Hide AdPerrie also welcomed her first child, Axel, in August alongside partner and Liverpool FC star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Little Mix are hitting the road on the Confetti Tour in the New Year, but have also confirmed they will be going on hiatus following the shows.
